Jun Hyuk (Zach) Hong Partner

Zach Hong advises a broad range of companies, from early-stage startups to multinational corporations. He assists clients with business-critical intellectual property (IP) issues in industries including medical device, software, digital health, entertainment, fashion, food and beverage, biotechnology, chemical engineering, and sporting goods.

Zach works with his clients to develop IP strategies and patent portfolios, conducts and defends IP due diligence, and performs patent landscape searches and freedom to operate analyses. His experience also includes drafting and prosecuting trademark applications and conducting trademark searches and preparing search opinions. He drafts and negotiates IP-related agreements, including those involving licensing, provisions in mergers and acquisitions, joint development agreements, and IP transfer agreements.

Zach’s guidance to clients is further informed by his experience as general counsel and chief compliance offer of a venture-backed, growth-stage digital health and medical device company. In this role, he helped develop the company’s strategic direction and operational decision-making, as well as managing enterprise risk. He also advised the executive team and board of directors on various legal matters.
