TAIPEI (April 18, 2018) – Perkins Coie LLP, along with Wispro Technology Consulting Corporation, and Fronteo Taiwan, Inc, hosted a seminar titled, “Legal and IP Issues in Cutting Edge Artificial Intelligence Industry and Markets,” on April 18, 2018, at the NTUH International Convention Center.

The seminar was attended by business executives, heads of innovation and R&D, AI and software developers, data scientists, data analysts, researchers and analysts. Discussion focused on the evolving and diverse applications for artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.

Legal and intellectual property issues affecting the AI sector were covered, including:

  • New rules for software patents upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court in Alice v. CLS Bank
  • Document analysis with artificial intelligence
  • Risk management related to intellectual properties in artificial intelligence
  • Antitrust conduct of implicit conspiracy in pricing algorithms
  • Data protection related to the use of artificial intelligence in IoT devices
