SEATTLE (February 27, 2020) - Perkins Coie is proud to announce that Chris Thomas, who is in the firm’s Environment & Natural Resources practice, has been selected by the Burton Awards as the recipient of a 2020 Law360 Distinguished Legal Writing Award – Law Firm for his article “NEPA Streamlining Yet Again: Will the Diet Work This Time?” The article, co-written with Chris Garrett and Ken Houser of SWCA Environmental Consultants, was published in the winter 2019 edition of the ABA’s environmental magazine, Natural Resources & Environment.

Chris is a partner in the Phoenix office.

The long-standing, nonprofit Burton Awards program recognizes the finest law firm writers and is run in association with the Library of Congress, presented by lead sponsor Law360 and co-sponsored by the American Bar Association. Winners are chosen from articles submitted by the managing partners of the nation's 1,000 largest law firms. Established in 1999, the Burton Awards reward major achievements in law, ranging from literary awards to the greatest reform in law. The program is funded by the Burton Foundation, a nonprofit, academic, and educational organization concentrating on major accomplishments in law.Chris will be honored at an awards ceremony celebrating the 21st Annual Burton Awards at the Library of Congress on June 8, 2020.

This is the tenth time in the history of the Burton Awards that Perkins Coie attorneys have been honored. Past award recipients include Paul F. Eckstein, T. Markus Funk, Stewart M. Landefeld, William G. Malley, Stephanie M. Regenold, Amy E. Simpson, David F. Taylor, James F. Williams, and Laura Godfrey Zagar.
