SEATTLE (May 21, 2015) – Katie O’Sullivan, partner and co-chair of Perkins Coie’s Appellate practice, has been elected to the Council of The American Law Institute (ALI).

The ALI is governed by its Council, a volunteer board of directors that oversees the management of ALI’s business and affairs. The Council consists of lawyers, judges, and academics, and reflects a broad range of specialties and experiences. Council members are elected from the ALI membership for terms of five years.

Katie represents clients in a wide range of complex litigation in trial and appellate courts across the country. Her practice involves diverse industries, including aviation, banking, biotechnology, food, manufacturing, retail, software and telecommunications. Katie has also dedicated significant amounts of time to pro bono matters, working to ensure access to justice for low-income litigants. She has served on the Washington State Bar Association Board of Governors and is a former Chair of the Washington Commission on Judicial Conduct. She earned her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and a B.A. from Yale University.

Katie’s election to the Council of ALI follows on the heels of three Perkins Coie partners—T. Markus Funk, Michelle Umberger and Steve Koh—becoming ALI members in April. Other Perkins Coie members who are members of ALI include: Dave Burman, Tim Burns, Kevin Hamilton, Stewart Landefeld, Marty Lybecker, Lorie Masters, Katie O’Sullivan, and James Williams.
