SEATTLE (May 12, 2021)—Perkins Coie is pleased to announce that Broc Romanek, a former long-serving editor at TheCorporateCounsel.net, has joined the firm in Washington, D.C., as a strategist for the firm’s Corporate & Securities Practice.

Broc also previously worked as an editor for CompensationStandards.com and DealLawyers.com, where he oversaw and managed coverage on issues related to environmental, social, and governance (ESG), corporate governance, executive pay, deals, market trends, and analysis. He is the author or co-author of four legal treatises and has authored several books focused on the legal industry.

“With public company governance and disclosure requirements and expectations growing and evolving so rapidly, we’re excited to welcome Broc to our expanding practice and team,” said Allison Handy, firmwide co-chair of Perkins Coie’s Corporate & Securities Practice. “Broc has a deep understanding of the regulatory and ESG marketplace—both legally and business-wise—which we know will greatly benefit our practice in terms of engaging with our clients and broader audiences.”

Broc has been a legal blogger since 2002 and has been instrumental in launching over a dozen legal websites. In addition to his nearly two decades as a journalist and publisher, Broc served as assistant general counsel at a Fortune 50 company, worked in the Office of Chief Counsel of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) Division of Corporation Finance, was a counselor to former SEC Commissioner Laura Unger, and worked in private practice.

Broc earned his B.B.A. from the University of Michigan and his J.D. from the University of Maryland.
