Partner Eric Wolff Elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers
SEATTLE (May 3, 2023)—Perkins Coie is pleased to congratulate Eric Wolff, a Seattle partner and firmwide co-chair of the Appeals, Issues & Strategy Practice, on his election as a fellow to the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers.
Election into the Academy is by invitation only and candidates have to be nominated and seconded by serving Academy fellows. Candidates are then reviewed by a membership committee and elected at an Academy Board of Directors meeting. Membership is open only to lawyers who possess a reputation of recognized distinction as an appellate lawyer, and whose practice has focused substantially on appeals during at least the last 15 years.
Eric is an established authority on questions of federal jurisdiction, removal, and forum non conveniens. He has written hundreds of briefs across a wide array of issues in both trial and appellate courts. Eric has argued over 35 appeals in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, as well as numerous cases in other federal and state courts of appeals. He was a law clerk to William Fletcher on the Ninth Circuit, Stephen Williams on the D.C. Circuit, and Antonin Scalia on the U.S. Supreme Court. He is a former head of appeals for the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Montana, and he has served as an instructor on appellate advocacy at the National Advocacy Center in Columbia, South Carolina.
